“I take a lot of interest and inspiration from the contrast in using historical feminin material as textile depicting themes within masculine hierarchical structures.”

Linn Åmo has her background from Bergen Academy of Art, Trondheim Academy of Art and Fachhochschule Bielefeld in Germany. She lives and works in Bodø, Northern Norway.

In her work she gets inspired from nature and it’s creations and shapes, and where she through her textile work create new shapes. She continuous works on collecting historical preferences, experiences and fragments of a lived life. The theme circulates  around different stories, often in connection with nature and environment. Åmos art work becomes constructed landscapes where the history of the material is being told, but at the same time covers, being processed and being abstractioned. In her textile work she can use found materials and often buys used textiles, also damaged and dirty ones. This only amplifies the expression of a lived life.

Contrasts are very important in her work, and she focuses on the relationship between the realistic and the elements that is found within her abstract work. Shape, color, structure and texture. The contrast between the flat, two dimensional and constructed space, and the three dimensional space we surround us with. She takes a lot of interest and inspiration from the contrast in using a historical feminin material as textile depicting themes within masculine hierarchical structures.

For Prosjekt 67 Linn Åmo will do an installation inside the container. The title of the work is “I gode og onde dager”.

The location for this project is Nord Universitet in Bodø, Northern Norway.
